A number of educational and religious organizations arranged for a march of hundreds of students to protest the crime and violence in their communities. Citizens do not understand how this streak of violence and crimes is affecting the children.

Pedestrian Shot Dead

Twenty-eight year old Densley Arnold was shot three times in the chest at the corner of Magazine Road and Vernon Street while riding his bike. The police do not have a motive at this time. Also earlier in the day a Ladyville man was stabbed at a night spot because of a rumour.

Mark Seawell arrested

Mark Seawell in the Belama area had an unexpected visit from police officers who raided his home and handcuffed him and took a number of items including what appeared to be a military style backpack. They are delaying him in connection with a extradition request by the U.S government

Wounded moneychanger Lucky

During a scuffle a gun went off when armed roberrs tried to get the money pouch off of a Belizean moneychanger working in Santa Elena. He is lucky to be alive tonight as the the gun shot wounded him in the right side of his chest and left arm.

Plane Crash No On Seriously Hurt

A serious plane crash occurred at the P.G.I.A. this morning. The twin engine Beechcraft had just been given clearance to land but as it was just about to touch down the landing gear failed to engage. The pilot appeared to try to take off again but the plane just plummeted into some bushes.

A Day of Reckoning for Trash

A ten to fifteen foot high mountain of garbage in the Belize City Garbage Dump is totally out of control and the day of reckoning is upon the City of Belize. It has become a very big eyesore and a danger to motorists.

Orange Grower Robbed

While the high world prices creates prosperity in the citrus belt one orange grower is significantly poorer because of some brazen robbers. As the workers were waiting for their pay two men demanded the money bag at gun point. They stole $30,000.00 in cash from the pay envelopes intended for the employees.

Trade Dispute Causing Uproar

One side says it is a grivance and the other side (the workers) say it is a trade dispute that has been recognized by the Minister and now Belize Telecommunications Limited having made a mistake are trying to make it look bad for the workers. They seem to think they can step above the law.

Robbery Victim Helped

Two painters jumped from the scaffold to come to the aid of a robbery victim by chasing him down and dragging him back to wait for police. Two nuns had been attacked and one had her purse stolen. The two heroes were rewarded with dinner for two as compensation for their assistance.
